The Beginning

Character Creation

When you first start the game, you’ll be on the character selection screen. You can choose to create whatever character you’d like. The combat and visual differences between the character races are not drastic right now, nor does it fundamentally change the gameplay depending on which race you are. The biggest differences between the races are most noticeable in some Flower Arrangement and Brewing buffs and race-based jewelry, but this is very unlikely to be enough of a difference to affect your decision here.

If you absolutely need someone to tell you what character to choose, I would recommend Human for your first character over Rakasha or Elf. In my opinion, Humans have some of the most generic racial gear, which is actually a negative, but they are going to have standard access to most of the game, can level well early, and will complement a solo and traditional play style. At the time of this guide’s publishing, Orcs and Dwarves are not complete but there is some indication they will be “different” in seemingly significant ways.

The races may end up in the final game to be different enough to justify more in this section, but for now I will say there isn’t much difference between the races that will drastically change the way you play the game.

It is important to note that everything I just said may change. In fact, it almost certainly will. As of right now, though, there isn't enough justification to worry about race. Play what you want.

Just wanted to note too that there is a Fae race, and the gameplay is drastically different for them, but you can't get them till you are higher level in another character, so I wouldn't worry about them. Also, they require having pretty extensive knowledge of the game already, so I wouldn't recommend playing one if you are new to the game.

Lastly, there are animals and other beast-like classes, but these are beyond the scope of setting up a new player. If you're going to be an animal or fully intend to go Druid as a primary skill it might make more sense to be a Rakasha to start off with.

Introduction/Story

When you first load into the game, your character will be killed. This is intentional. You’ll also get experience in Death. The first experience every character gets in the game is in the Death skill. While this seems weird, you get a really nice ability when you hit level 10 in Death. But I’m getting ahead of myself…

It looks as if you are killed by Gorgons? It’s hard to say for sure, though. Your memory is wiped and you are dropped on an island called Anagoge with a bunch of other people who have had their memory wiped as well.

It's typically at the start of the game many users will want to go into editing the Graphics and/or Settings for the game.

If you've already done the tutorial island, consider skipping ahead to Serbule. Otherwise proceed to the Anagoge Island section.
